Job Title:                    HOUSEKEEPING SUPERVISOR   

Department:               Housekeeping

Reports To:                Executive Housekeeper

Rate of Pay:                $12.00-$12.50/Hour DOE

Shift:                           Full-Time, Year Round Position

                                    MUST BE AVAILABLE WEEKENDS & HOLIDAYS                   

 

 

SUMMARY

Assist Executive Housekeeper and Assistant Housekeeping Manager with all services needed to maintain cottages, mountain homes, walkways, housekeeping closets and public areas according to resort standards.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.

Check in and out keys and radios from the safety office.

Check in/out Sundance vehicle following Sundance vehicle safety guidelines.

Supervise all employees in assigned sections.

Inspect all vacant rooms and checkouts in assigned sections, as well as stayover services upon request by the Housekeeping Management Team.

Ensure all closets and storage areas are clean and stocked.

Ensure cleanliness of rooms/areas in assigned sections as well as all amenities are stocked; ie: clean robes, folder, hygiene amenities and magazines.

Direct housepersons in maintaining cleanliness in assigned areas.

Ensure garbage and linen are picked up as needed.

Ensure staff follows Sundance Housekeeping standards for cleanliness and safety.

Ensure staff follows Forbes standards and assist the Housekeeping Managers with all Forbes or Housekeeping initiatives.

Change status of cleaned rooms via phone #152 and communicate status updates to the Housekeeping Management Team.

Communicate problems and requests in need of attention to other departments in a timely manner.

Review status report in the morning and update room statuses via the computer two times per shift.

Delegate work evenly to room attendants and housepersons in assigned section.

Ensure turnovers are clean by 3:00 PM.  Communicate to Front Desk and Housekeeping Management Team when this isn't possible.

Communicate to Front Desk when an early arrival is ready.

Safely transport housekeepers to assigned areas according to housekeeping standards.

Ensure each employee is wearing a neat and complete uniform in compliance with the Sundance and Housekeeping appearance policies.

Ensure keys and radios checked out have been returned to safety.

Complete yellow Room Inspection checklist for every housekeeper each day.

Assist other assigned areas to ensure that all units are cleaned prior to 4:00 pm check in.  Ensure all housekeepers/housepersons go home at the same time unless otherwise approved by the Housekeeping Management Team.

Must be knowledgeable of all Housekeeper duties and willing to assist with cleaning rooms if assigned by the Housekeeping Management Team.

Complete all other duties or projects as assigned by the Housekeeping Management Team.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Directly supervise 10-15 employees. 

Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Interview and train employees; plan, schedule, assign and direct work.  Coach employees on prioritizing duties and completing duties to the Sundance standard.  Provide feedback on performance - praising employees, addressing complaints, resolving problems.  Promote a positive work environment by showing employee appreciation, administering constructive criticism in a professional and sensitive manner.  Use critical thinking to resolve problems.  Encourage and motivate employees, maintain a positive attitude despite adversity to promote strong morale.  Report performance or insubordination issues to Management for resolution and/or discipline.  Communicate any unfinished work or challenges with to prevent unresolved problems.  Attend bi-weekly progress meetings with Management as scheduled to assess performance trends.  Ensure sufficient labor coverage and cover vacant shifts due to short-staffing or scheduled/non-scheduled employee absences when creating the weekly schedule.  Work weekly schedule as approved by Management based on business demands.  Must be available during weekends and special events if needed to support and direct the Team,

 

ENVIRONMENTAL COMMITMENT

Support and participate in environmental programs associated with position, for example:  minimize waste, recycle, conserve energy, purchase and use sustainable products, educate co-workers/guests on environmental ethic, support vendors with similar environmental ethic, decrease pollution levels, minimize the use of toxic chemicals, restore wild life habitats.  All employees are invited to participate in the Green Team and/or any Green Team sponsored events.

 

DRESS CODE

Sundance recognizes the impact that our image has on the guest's impression of the resort and the perception of our ability to provide professional service to our clientele. In order to best promote a positive, professional image that meets Sundance guest's expectations, employees are required to dress in a professional, conservative fashion that is appropriate for their area. Please use the following as a minimum standard:

 

All aspects of the Personal Appearance policy (SPL#50) must be in compliance.

Housekeeping staff are required to wear nametags at all times while on duty.

The Housekeeping Uniforms consists of the following:

Blue jeans or khaki pants (without fancy embroidery )

Sundance issued shirt, sweatshirt, or coat

Clothing must be unwrinkled and clean, and in good condition (no rips, tears, or frays regardless of whether accidental or fashionably placed).

Men's shirts must be tucked in no exceptions.

Appropriate skirt/shorts length is from the knee to the ankle.

A tailored fit is required of all clothing.  Clothes that are too baggy or tight are not permitted.

If an additional layer of clothing is needed for warmth while on duty, it must either be Sundance issued or it must be warn underneath the uniform and not visible (except in the collar area)

Sundance Hats may be warn, but must be PRE-APPROVED by manager

Bare midriffs are prohibited.

Flip flops and sport sandals (tevas/chacos,etc) are prohibited in all areas.

Tennis shoes are permitted, but must be in good repair and not too flashy.

No open-toed shoes

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months supervisory experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.  Housekeeping experience preferred.

 

TECHNICAL/COMPUTER SKILLS

Must possess working knowledge of internet navigation and electronic mail.  Knowledge of SMS helpful.  Operate radio for communication with staff.

 

CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

Must possess a valid U.S. Drivers' License in good standing in accordance to Sundance's Insurance Company guidelines.

 

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals in English and Spanish (preferred).  Ability to write routine reports and correspondence in both English and Spanish (preferred).  Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization in both English and Spanish (preferred).

 

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's.  Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.

 

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.  Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
