Job Title:                    Retail Specialist

Department:                Sundance Mountain Outfitters

Reports To:                 SMO Manager and SMO Retail Manager

Rate of Pay:                $10.00 - $11.00 per Hour 

Shift:                           Part Time, Seasonal Position

                                    Mid November Mid April 

                                    Must be available weekends and holidays



Work closely with Retail Manager to create stunning retail displays which drive sales.  Balance the importance of guest service, efficiency, and engaging displays.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Maintain and organize the retail area ensuring retail displays are stocked and the area is free of clutter, dirt, dust, and debris.

Assist Retail Manager in developing creative retail displays that fit the SMO dcor and ambiance. 

Create significant experiences for our guests through a friendly, out-going personality, and passion.

Uphold all Forbes service standards with every guest interaction.

Effectively cross sell and up-sell to customers.

Apply basic knowledge of retail products to guide customers in their purchase to include: pricing, sizing, fit, and construction.

Learn and know about the current products carried in the retail area, including technology, and be able to guide guests to the best product for them.

Listen to guest requests and input and implement when appropriate. 

Share the Sundance story of land preservation and environmental commitment as the occasion arises.

Work with Retail Manager to ensure accurate and up to date Point of Sale interactions for all hot keys.

Report when any product becomes low or out of stock to the Retail Manager

Use Inventory Software to look up product sku's and perform physical inventories. 

Assist Manager and Retail Manager in running quarterly inventory and ensure accurate counts.

Ensure accurate inventory counts.

Operate Point of sale and handle cash. 

Perform multiple Point of Sale transactions to include gift cards, vouchers, inter-department, returns, refunds, and end of shift closing procedures.

Maintain proper change to insure proper denominations for all periods of time but particularly on weekends and holidays when accounting is closed.

Ensure back stock storage areas are clean and organized.

Remain constantly attentive and engaged assisting guests, cleaning, stocking, and organizing the retail area.

Support the recycling program.

Support and participate in environmental programs associated with position; for example:  minimize waste, recycle, conserve energy, purchase and use sustainable products, educate co-workers/guests on environmental ethic, support vendors with similar environmental ethic, decrease pollution levels, minimize the use of toxic chemicals, restore wild life habitats, and carpool with co-workers to minimize carbon emissions.  All employees are invited to participate in environmental or Sundance Preserve sponsored events.



Sundance recognizes the impact that our image has on the guest's impression of the resort and the perception of our ability to provide professional service to our clientele.  As representatives of Sundance all employees including mangers are expected to be in compliance with the Dress Code determined for his/her department as defined in the job description or follow the standards below.


In order to best promote a positive, professional image that meets Sundance guest's expectations, employees are required to dress in a professional, conservative fashion that is appropriate for their area.  Please use the following as a minimum standard: 


All aspects of the Personal Appearance policy (SPL#50) must be in compliance.

Employees are required to wear nametags at all times while on duty.

Clothing must be unwrinkled and clean, and in good condition (no rips, tears, or frays regardless of whether accidental or fashionably placed).

Blue jeans are permitted.

Men's shirts must be tucked in.

Appropriate skirt length is from the knee to the ankle.

A tailored fit is required of all clothing.

Tank tops, halter tops tube tops, and spaghetti straps are prohibited.

Sleeveless shirts are permitted for females.

Bare midriffs are prohibited.

Proper footwear for your department is required.

Dress sandals are permitted for females.

Flip flops are prohibited in all areas.

Tennis shoes are prohibited unless there is a business need (ie:  Mtn. Ops.)

Fashion sneakers are allowed within department approved parameters.

If your department allows t-shirts, they must be in good condition and have appropriate Sundance logos. 

Baseball caps must be in good condition and have appropriate Sundance logos.

If your department allows beanies, they must be in good condition and Sundance branded.

Employees working in retail outlets may wear t-shirts and caps that are sold in their area if no uniform is provided.

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.  Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.



Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
