Job Title:                     Summer Lead Shop Technician

Department:                Sundance Mountain Outfitters

Reports To:                SMO Manager

Rate of Pay:                 $14.00 - $16.00 per hour

Shift:                            4 Days a Week. 9am 7pm

 

SUMMARY

The Lead Shop Technician balances a high volume of customer service and shop tasks while maintaining quickness, efficiency, attention to detail, and setting an example for all staff members. Possesses leadership qualities allowing guidance for the team, under the direction of the SMO Manager to accomplish the seasonal goals. Diagnoses and repairs any mechanical issue for rental and guest's equipment for Summer season.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Accurately size and fit rental guests to appropriate equipment while maintaining professionalism. 

Exhibit detailed knowledge of differences in levels and types of equipment.  Train all staff members on product differences, advantages, and disadvantages.

Ensure all rental documents are completed, signed, and accurate 100% of the time. 

Maintain detailed understanding of InfoGenesis operations and cash handling performing multiple transactions to include gift cards, vouchers, inter-department, returns, refunds and end of shift closing procedures. 

Troubleshoot InfoGenesis issues and coordinate with accounting when issues arise.

Be friendly and out-going and demonstrate passion for creating significant experiences for guests. 

Assist guests in determining needs for all equipment repairs and tunes. 

Assist guests recommending needed repairs and help guide their decision for safest course of action. 

Follow through on all services performed to ensure repairs are finished on time and as promised.

Commit and adhere to resort & department service standards.

Effectively cross sell within SMO to upgrade rentals, retail, and other Sundance departments and activities. 

Work with other departments to resolve concerns and accommodate requests. 

Perform all back shop duties, such as, train others in back shop services, and assist SMO Manager in making sure quality of service work is maintained at a high level. 

Maintain back shop supplies and make inventory requests to SMO Manager.

Maintain a clean and organized shop.

Continually clean and maintain all tools and equipment.

Ensure that all tunes are done on time and done to the Sundance standard.

Maintain the rental fleet to ensure all are tuned when needed and functioning correctly.

Efficiently balance time between tuning and helping guests with rentals

Have a solid understanding of SMO's Service Standard goals and live them out loud consistently, as well as hold all staff accountable for living these standards out loud. 

Proficiently utilize time management system.

Help other staff members learn how to deliver the Sundance experience to guests. 

Train Rental Specialist Level 1 & 2 in basic functions and responsibilities of their duties. 

Ensure all staff is consistently following Liability Protocol. 

Follow-up with staff on standards when necessary.

Document training.

Abide by Mountain Operations leadership expectations.

Assist Manager in making sure that the quality of service work is maintained at a high level. 

Lead Shop Technician has the responsibility of ensuring that all staff is consistently following Liability Protocol.

Work with the SMO manager on marketing ideas to boost back shop revenue.

Understand ticketing options and pricing to clearly communicate with guests.

Ensure all applicable waivers are signed and passes are attached when selling lift tickets.

Understand the season pass sale process including waivers, payment, and using season pass software.

Learn about the current retail products sold in the shop and be able to explain and sell them to customers.

Apply basic knowledge of retail processes including; looking up SKU numbers, maintaining stock levels, and organization.

Apply basic knowledge of retail products to guide customers in their purchase to include: pricing, sizing, fit, and construction.

ENVIRONMENTAL COMMITMENT

Support and participate in environmental programs associated with position, for example:  minimize waste, recycle, conserve energy, purchase and use sustainable products, educate co-workers/guests on environmental ethic, support vendors with similar environmental ethic, decrease pollution levels, minimize the use of toxic chemicals, restore wild life habitats, and carpool with co-workers to minimize carbon emissions.  All employees are invited to participate in environmental or Sundance Preserve sponsored events.

 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

In absence of SMO Manager and SMO Retail Manager, Lead Shop Technician must be able to lead and manage a team of up to 15 Rental Specialists and all other duties associated with running SMO. 

Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Complete all applicable paperwork for the above responsibilities and submit to HR in a timely manner.

 

DRESS CODE

Sundance recognizes the impact that our image has on the guest's impression of the resort and the perception of our ability to provide professional service to our clientele.  As representatives of Sundance all employees including mangers are expected to be in compliance with the Dress Code determined for his/her department as defined in the job description or follow the standards below.

 

In order to best promote a positive, professional image that meets Sundance guest's expectations, employees are required to dress in a professional, conservative fashion that is appropriate for their area.  Please use the following as a minimum standard: 

 

All aspects of the Personal Appearance policy (SPL#50) must be in compliance.

Employees are required to wear nametags at all times while on duty.

Clothing must be unwrinkled and clean, and in good condition (no rips, tears, or frays regardless of whether accidental or fashionably placed).

Blue jeans are permitted.

Men's shirts must be tucked in.

Appropriate skirt length is from the knee to the ankle.

A tailored fit is required of all clothing.

Tank tops, halter tops tube tops, and spaghetti straps are prohibited.

Sleeveless shirts are permitted for females.

Bare midriffs are prohibited.

Proper footwear for your department is required.

Dress sandals are permitted for females.

Flip flops are prohibited in all areas.

Tennis shoes are prohibited unless there is a business need (i.e.:  Mtn. Ops.)

Fashion sneakers are allowed within department approved parameters.

If your department allows t-shirts, they must be in good condition and have appropriate Sundance logos. 

Baseball caps are allowed, they must be in good condition and have appropriate Sundance logos.

Beanies are allowed, they must be in good condition and Sundance branded.

Shorts are appropriate and must be mid-thigh or longer during the summer month and must be approved by manager.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

High School diploma.  Must have worked 2 years as a Bicycle Technician and 3 years of rental experience

 

TECHNICAL/COMPUTER SKILLS

Must have basic computer & word processing skills to include internet use.  Proficient with Point of Sale system, computer databases, spreadsheets, and electronic mail.

 

CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

None required. 

 

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.  Ability to write routine repots and correspondence.  Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

 

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Basic mathematical skills required to include addition, determining sales tax & discounts and convert standard and metric units of weight. 

 

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.  Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
