Job Title:                    RENTAL SHOP SPECIALIST LEVEL II

Department:                Sundance Mountain Outfitters

Reports To:                SMO Manager

Rate of Pay:                $11.50-12 hour

Anticipated Start Date: 05/01/2020

Shift:                            4 Days per Week, 9am to 7pm.

                                    Must be available Weekends and Holidays.

 

SUMMARY:

Helps guide the Sundance Mountain Outfitters guest rental experience through shop expertise, efficient and precise communication on all rental gear, equipment and adjustments, while demonstrating enthusiasm for mountain recreation and knowledge of resort. 

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

General:

Understand the required waivers needed for all activities.

Ensure every guest has filled out correct documents for each activity.

Possess extensive knowledge of local biking and hiking trail systems.

Determine guest ability levels for biking or hiking and recommend appropriate trails.

Exhibit a basic understanding of point of sale operations and cash handling to perform basic transactions including cash, credit, gift cards and vouchers

Demonstrate friendly and outgoing personality and have a passion for creating significant experiences for guests.

Assist guest in determining needs for basic repairs and tune-ups.

Effectively cross-sell within SMO to include upgrade in rentals and cross selling retail. 

Cross sell other Sundance departments and activities.

Stay up date on all resort activities happening throughout the season.

Maintain cleanliness, organization of work area and surrounding areas.

Support recycling program.

Share the Sundance story of land preservation and environmental commitment as the opportunity arises.

Continually uphold all Forbes service standards with every interaction with each guest.

Adhere to resort & department service standards.

Exhibit mastery of all duties and responsibilities of a Summer Shop Specialist Level I.

Train Rental Shop Specialist Level I to the Sundance Standard. 

Have a solid understanding of SMO's service standards, policy's, processes, goals, and summer operations.

Insure all shop processes and procedures have been followed for weather holds and mountain closures.

Help with mountain evacuation if needed.

Work with other departments to resolves concerns, or accommodates requests.

Share Sundance's story of land preservation and environmental commitment.

Accurately size and adjust biking equipment for rental guests, while maintaining professionalism.

Perform basic maintenance, such as, replacing a flat tire, grip replacement, lube chain, etc. on rental and guest bikes.

Check in, clean, and inspect rental equipment after each rental.

Correctly document any work done rental equipment in tuning log and charge for parts when needed

Confirm rental documents are signed and 100% complete. 

Ensure all safety and maintenance checks are 100% complete prior to letting guest use rental equipment.

Perform a basic tune and repairs including cable replacements, lever and cable adjustments, etc. 

Understand ticketing options and pricing to clearly communicate with guests.

Ensure all applicable waivers are signed and passes are attached when selling lift tickets.

Understand the season pass sale process including waivers, payment and using season pass software.

Learn about the current retail products sold in the shop and be able to explain and sell them to customers.

Basic knowledge of retail processes including; looking up SKU numbers, maintaining stock levels, and organization.

Help with inventory counts when needed.

Maintain and organize retail area ensuring retail displays are stocked and free of clutter, dirt, dust and debris.

Report when any inventory product becomes low, or out of stock to the Retail Manager.

Apply basic knowledge of retail products to guide customers in their purchase to include: pricing, sizing, fit, and construction

ENVIRONMENTAL COMMITMENT

Support and participate in environmental programs associated with position:  minimizing waste, recycling, energy conservation, purchase and use of sustainable products, education on environmental ethic, support vendors with similar environmental ethics, decrease pollution levels, minimize the use of toxic chemicals, restore wild life habitats, car-pool with colleagues and coworkers to minimize carbon emissions.  All employees are invited to participate in environmental and Sundance Preserve sponsored events.

 

DRESS CODE

Sundance recognizes the impact that our image has on the guest's impression of the resort and the perception of our ability to provide professional service to our clientele.  As representatives of Sundance all employees including mangers are expected to be in compliance with the Dress Code determined for his/her department as defined in the job description or follow the standards below.

 

In order to best promote a positive, professional image that meets Sundance guest's expectations, employees are required to dress in a professional, conservative fashion that is appropriate for their area.  Please use the following as a minimum standard: 

 

All aspects of the Personal Appearance policy (SPL#50) must be in compliance.

Required to wear nametags at all times while in guest service area.

Clothing must be unwrinkled and clean, and in good condition (no rips, tears, or frays regardless of whether accidental or fashionably placed).

Blue jeans are permitted.

Men's shirts must be tucked in when possible, related to the type of work, lifting bikes, etc.

Appropriate skirt length is from the knee to the ankle.

A tailored fit is required of all clothing.

Tank tops, halter tops tube tops, and spaghetti straps are prohibited.

Sleeveless shirts are permitted for females.

Bare midriffs are prohibited.

Proper footwear for your department is required.

Sandals and flip flops are prohibited in all areas.

Tennis shoes are prohibited unless there is a business need (ie:  Mtn. Ops.)

Fashion sneakers are allowed within department approved parameters.

If an approved t-shirt is worn, it must be in good condition and have appropriate Sundance logos. 

Sundance logo or a no logo baseball cap is permitted: beanies are okay.

Shorts are appropriate and must be mid-thigh or longer during the summer month and must be approved by manager.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

TECHNICAL/COMPUTER SKILLS

Must have basic computer & word processing skills to include internet use.  Proficient with point-ofsale, computer databases, spreadsheets, and electronic mail.

None

 

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.  Ability to write routine repots and correspondence.  Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

 

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Basic mathematical skills required to include addition, determining sales tax & discounts and convert standard and metric units of weight.  Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.  Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

 

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.  Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
